MOROCCO APPROVES EIA FOR CHARIOT’S LOUKOS DRILLING CAMPAIGN

Chariot, the Africa focused transitional energy group, has received approval for its Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) from the Unified Regional Investment Committee for drilling activity on its Loukos Onshore licence, onshore Morocco (Chariot, Operator 75%, ONHYM, 25%).

The EIA covers a total of 20 well operations, which includeInitial drilling campaign of two exploration wells on the Gaufrette and Dartois prospects, furthered with 17 candidate well locations and re-entry of an existing gas discovery.

The permit is valid for a period of 5 years and civil works is now expected to commence in prepare for the first well locations and access routes

“We are very pleased to receive approval of the environmental permit for drilling activity on our Loukos licence. This is not only an important step towards our initial drilling campaign but EIA approval for multiple additional locations gives us flexibility in future campaigns. In addition to this, the land access activities and civil work contracting have concluded, site construction activities are now underway and we are on track for commencement of operations around the end of Q1 2024. Uganda lead neaThe National Oil and Gas Talent Register (NOGTR) is an e-government online management information system for Uganda that captures information on the demand and supply of Ugandan skilled manpower within the oil and gas sector.

The NOGTR which was developed by The Petroleum Authority of Uganda and launched on 1st February 2019 provides a one stop data centre for available human capabilities and technical skills in Uganda. This database is also used for the recruitment of personnel by licensees, contractors and subcontractors and has gone a long way in improving the visibility and subsequent employment of Ugandans.

As at December 2023, the number of registered people on the system since 2019, is eight thousand eight hundred ninety-six (8,896). Of these, six thousand nine hundred seventy-three (6,973) are male, (78%) while one-thousand nine hundred twenty-two (1,922) are female (21%).
