Baba Jibril El-Yakubu is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU). He obtained a B.Eng. from ABU, an MSc from the University of Petroleum and Minerals (Saudi Arabia), and a PhD from the University of Salford (UK) – all in Chemical Engineering. For about twenty years, he worked as a lecturer, researcher and consultant in the Middle East.
He has research works in Petroleum Refinery Catalysis, Materials Design, Process Simulation/techno-feasibility studies of biofuels and has fervent interest in higher education quality assurance. In these areas, Prof. El-Yakubu has published or presented over 100 papers.
He is the current PTDF chair occupant at ABU – with a focus on catalysis and zeolite development. He is a NUC and COREN programme/institutional Accreditation Panelist. He is a resource person at COREN – currently responsible for implementing Outcome-Based Education (OBE) in Engineering Programs across Nigeria. This effort focuses on presenting sensitization and training workshops to senior academics in Nigerian Universities towards the attainment of a Full Signatory status of the Washington Accord by COREN. El-Yakubu is a co-author of a forthcoming book on OBE.
