The Nigerian $2.8 billion Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) 614 km gas pipeline project has recently been recognized for achieving thirty-one million man-hours by the Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, Engr. Bayo Ojulari.

Engr. Ojulari made this disclosure during his recent tour of the starting point of the landmark Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline Project alongside the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum (Gas), Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo. He describes the unprecedented milestone that underscores the profound national importance of this strategic endeavour.

“I commend the dedicated team whose Thirty-One Million Man-Hours are building a tangible legacy. The AKK Pipeline is a cornerstone of our industrial heritage and a deliberate pivot toward a future of resurgence. By harnessing gas as our transition fuel, we are laying the foundation for sustainable prosperity and declaring our readiness to power our own destiny,” Engr. Ojulari said.

The visit also marked the celebration of another milestone achieved in the construction of this critical economic infrastructure, the timely completion of the Mainline Welding and Associated Works segment of the Natural Gas Pipeline Project. The NNPC Ltd. GCEO described this feat as the current administration’s unalloyed commitment to financial and economic projects

“Let me be unequivocal: this administration is unwavering in delivering this project on time. As the Honourable Minister rightly stated, this infrastructure is far more than a pipeline—it is the backbone of our future economic vitality. Upon completion, it will unlock unprecedented opportunities, power our industries, energise our communities, and propel Nigeria into a new era of energy security and industrial growth. I stand firmly in support of this vision,” He added.

The Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer, Oilserv Group, Dr. Engr. Emeka Okwuosa, in his remarks, attributed the unprecedented achievement to the exceptional commitment of the Oilserv AKK Project Management Team, ably led by Engr. Gbola Adeniyi, with invaluable contributions from our subcontractors, Bradama, OMSC, and SCNL Corporate Teams, as well as NNPC AKK PMT.

“It is a clear testament to what disciplined collaboration and professionalism can accomplish on a project of national importance. As the AKK project continues to take shape, we remain steadfast in our pursuit of excellence, fully committed to delivering infrastructure that strengthens Nigeria’s energy future and supports sustainable economic growth.” Dr. Emeka Okwuosa stated.

The Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline project, a 614km infrastructure initiative in Nigeria, has recently achieved a key milestone, which includes the crossing of the River Niger using the Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) technique, with completion expected by Q1 2026.
