The National Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources (ALNAFT) announced the granting of a prospecting authorization to British Petroleum (BP) for the Eastern Basin. This is part of its strategy to enhance the attractiveness of the national mining domain and promote new exploration opportunities.

Covering more than 1.7 million km², Algeria’s mining domain offers vast areas with significant potential. In this context, marked by the rapid evolution of exploration technologies, ALNAFT is driving a new dynamic based on innovation and the integration of advanced technologies, aimed at improving subsurface knowledge and opening new prospects for the development of hydrocarbon resources.

The authorization granted to bp is part of this momentum and targets the Eastern Basin, with the ambition of mobilizing cutting-edge technologies in prospecting operations in order to deepen the understanding of the region’s energy potential.

The return of the global energy giant bp to Algeria sends a strong signal of renewed confidence from international companies in the potential of Algeria’s mining domain, as well as in the partnership framework promoted by ALNAFT.

ALNAFT has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening exploration momentum, attracting leading international investment, and supporting the sustainable development of Algeria’s hydrocarbon sector, thereby confirming the country’s position as a strategic destination for energy exploration at global level.
