A United States-owned Floating Storage and Regasification Unit FSRU) vessel operating in Egypt has been reportedly struck in a yet-to-be-disclosed drone strike at Damietta

According to reports circulating in the media space, the ugly incident has led to fires observed at the LNG terminal, with Energos and GasLog vessels affected being towed away from berth.

A British maritime watchdog, Ambrey Intelligence, has identified the vessel as a US-owned and operated FSRU that is alongside at Egyptian Natural Gas Holding’s terminal in Damietta. It is registered under the Marshall Islands flag, the firm said.

This unprecedented incident is happening for the first time on African soil and is yet to be linked to the prevailing Middle East war between the USA and Iran, which has escalated in recent days.
