Egypt, Eni Forge Fresh Drilling Strategic Alliance

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi received Francesco Gaspari, President of ENI’s subsidiary in Egypt, in the presence of Moataz Atef, Undersecretary of the Minister’s Office, Technical Office and Spokesperson, and Mahmoud Abou El-Yazid, Vice President of the company in Egypt, where they discussed the company’s activities in its concession areas in Egypt, especially the ongoing preparations to resume drilling operations in the Zohr field and continue with the studies for Nargis field in the Mediterranean Sea. 

During the meeting, Badawi emphasized the full support of the political leadership for the activities of international oil companies in Egypt, and that the petroleum sector is working to overcome the challenges in front of the companies performing their work, noting that the top priority during the current period is to increase production and reserves of oil and gas in order to continue to meet the needs of the local market in parallel with reducing the import bill. For his part, the head of IEOC stressed that the current period is witnessing the company efforts to perform new seismic reprocessing

with advanced technologies in the Nour concession area, pointing to the ongoing preparations to resume the drilling operations in the Zohr field, as well as continuing with the studies and supporting the Operator for the Narges field, pointing to the company’s efforts in reducing flare gas emissions and capturing and utilizing them to support environmental sustainability, and stressed that the company is currently intensifying its efforts to increase research and exploration operations and development.
