Energy major Eni has announced the successful launch of its ninth LNG cargo from the Republic of Congo. With this milestone, the company has now reached 1 million cubic meters of LNG produced and exported from the Congolese market.
The announcement was made on March 25 during a keynote presentation by Andrea Barberi, Managing Director of Eni Congo, during the opening ceremony of the inaugural Congo Energy & Investment Forum in Brazzaville.
“Today, we are proud to be part of this new sector in the Republic of Congo,” Barberi stated.
Delivery of Eni’s ninth cargo of LNG comes once year after a final investment decision was made to start-up the Congo LNG project.
The second phase of the project is expected to start operation by the end of 2025 and will increase the total liquefaction capacity to roughly 4.5 billion cubic meters per year.
The inaugural Congo Energy & Investment Forum, taking place March 24-26, 2025, in Brazzaville, under the highest patronage of President Denis Sassou Nguesso and supported by the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo, brings together international investors and local stakeholders to explore national and regional energy and infrastructure opportunities.
