Eni Rovuma Basin Equips Mozambican National Health Institute

Eni Rovuma Basin has delivered medical and laboratory equipment to Mozambican National Health Institute in order to support this institution to increasing their technical capabilities for the identification and prevention of infectious diseases, including SARS-Cov-2. This donation is part of the partnership that Eni has been developing with the Ministry of Health since 2013, which allowed the implementation of several projects in the area of Community Health, in the Provinces of Cabo Delgado and Maputo.

The equipment, handed over by Eni Rovuma Basin Managing Director, Mr. Giorgio Vicini, and received by the General Director of the National Health Institute, Dr Ilesh Jani, includes 3 biological protection booths, 1 magnetic induction cycler, 1 PCR detection machine, 7000 (seven thousand) testing kits, personal protective equipment and several laboratory reagents.

Also as part of the support provided to the Mozambican health authorities, Eni Rovuma Basin recently donated several medical equipment and personal protective equipment, and financed the installation of 3 mobile health centers for basic medical assistance in the districts of Pemba, Mecúfi and Metuge, aimed to provide primary healthcare services and prevent the spread of infectious diseases among displaced people living in the accommodation centres. The partnership with the Mozambican Health authorities reaffirms Eni’s commitment to continue promoting the well-being of the communities in countries where it´s present, to ensure healthy life to all at all ages, in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG´s).
