ExxonMobil has disclosed that the arrival of the Noble Gerry de Souza in Nigerian waters marks the start of the Usan Infill Project and the first drilling campaign at Usan Deepwater Oilfield since 2016.

The Noble Gerry de Souza is a sixth-generation ultra-deepwater drillship designed to deliver consistent, high-performance drilling operations. Equipped with dual-activity capability, DP3 positioning, and robust well control systems, it supports efficient well construction and reliable execution across demanding offshore environments.

Backed by a $1 billion investment, the short-cycle Usan Deepwater Infill project is expected to deliver up to 40,000 barrels per day of incremental production within 18 months, supporting Nigeria’s aspirations for production growth, long-term value creation, and Nigeria’s energy future.

This milestone reflects the dedication, collaboration, and expertise of teams across the organization and our partners. Thank you to everyone who helped to bring this project to life.
