The 4th edition of the Gas Investment Forum (GIF 2026) is set to take place today, bringing together government leaders, regulators, investors, financiers, energy companies, project developers, technology providers, and industry professionals at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, between September 29 and 30, 2026

With the theme “Positioning Nigeria as Africa’s Global Gas Powerhouse,” the two-day event focuses on high-level dialogue on the investment and development opportunities shaping Nigeria’s gas economy.

The organisers said the Gas Investment Forum 2026 comes at a critical stage in Nigeria’s ambition to translate its substantial natural gas resources into increased production, infrastructure development, industrial growth, energy security, and an update on various gas investment projects, including ongoing projects and those currently under FIDs.

With the Gas Master Plan 2026 targeting over $60 billion in new investment by 2030, Gas Investment Forum 2026 will spotlight the projects, infrastructure and partnerships shaping Nigeria’s emergence as Africa’s global gas powerhouse

The 4th edition of the Gas Investment Forum (GIF 2026) will hold on 29–30 September 2026 at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, bringing together government leaders, regulators, investors, financiers, energy companies, project developers, technology providers and industry professionals for two days of high-level dialogue on the investment and development opportunities shaping Nigeria’s gas economy.

Nigeria’s gas reserves stood at 215.19 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) as of 1 January 2026, according to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), reinforcing the scale of the resource base available to support the country’s industrial and economic ambitions.

As Nigeria advances the objectives of its Decade of Gas, Gas Investment Forum 2026 will provide a platform for stakeholders to examine what it will take to increase gas supply, unlock infrastructure investment, strengthen domestic utilization, improve project bankability and position Nigeria more competitively within Africa’s growing gas economy.

NIPCO Group, through its subsidiary NIPCO Gas Ltd., has unveiled plans to float a more than $3 billion Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) plant project, a strategic investment move to boost gas supply and commercialization and monetization in line with the Nigerian government’s efforts to unlock its vast Natural gas reserves.

AMNI International Petroleum Development Company Limited has announced the Final Investment Decision (FID) for the Ima Gas Project, being developed in partnership with TotalEnergies EP Nigeria Limited, marking a major milestone in the commercialisation of one of AMNI’s significant offshore gas resources and the next phase of the Company’s long-term growth strategy.

The Ima Gas Project has an estimated development cost of approximately US$1.108 billion and holds independently confirmed gross reserves of approximately 1.28 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of non-associated gas. At plateau, the project is designed to produce approximately 350 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMscf/d) for a minimum of eight years.

Gas from the development is expected to supply approximately 30% of the feed gas requirement for Nigeria LNG’s Train 7, providing a significant long-term gas supply stream to the country’s expanding LNG infrastructure. First gas is targeted for October 2028.

The Gas Master Plan 2026 targets increased national gas production to 10 billion cubic feet per day (BCF/D) by 2027 and 12 BCF/D by 2030, while seeking to catalyze over $60 billion in new investment across the oil and gas value chain by 2030.

Speaking on the Forum, Osaze Isesele, Director of Events, Gas Investment Forum, said: “Nigeria has no shortage of gas resources or ambition. The defining question now is how quickly we can convert that resource base into bankable projects, reliable infrastructure, expanded supply and productive economic activity. Gas Investment Forum 2026 is designed around that execution challenge.
“We are bringing government, regulators, investors, financiers, operators, project developers and technical experts into the same room to examine where the opportunities are, what is required to unlock them, and how we can accelerate the partnerships and investment needed to build a more competitive Nigerian gas economy.”

He explained that the two-day programme will provide delegates with access to strategic policy discussions, investment opportunities, project insights, technical expertise and commercial perspectives across the gas value chain.

Gas Investment Forum is a business and investment platform connecting policymakers, regulators, operators, investors, financiers, technical experts and businesses around Nigeria & Africa’s gas future.
