JGC France S.A.S., in partnership with Technip Energies France S.A.S. and Samsung Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. of South Korea, has been awarded a contract to provide engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC) services for a floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) project offshore Mozambique developed by Eni and its Partners CNPC, ENH, XRG, and KOGAS.

The contract has been awarded by Mozambique Rovuma Venture S.p.A. (MRV) on behalf of the Area 4 Partners.

The project, known as the Coral North Project, involves the construction of a new FLNG facility with a production capacity of approximately 3.6 million tonnes per annum. The facility will be installed in the Coral gas field, located about 50 kilometers offshore northern Mozambique.

Under the contract, JGC France and Technip Energies, through their joint venture, will be primarily responsible for the engineering and procurement of the FLNG topside facilities as well as overall project management. Samsung Heavy Industries will undertake the engineering, procurement and construction of the FLNG hull and the fabrication of the topside modules.

The total contract value is below USD 5 billion, of which JGC Group’s share is above USD 1 billion. The contract is structured as a lump-sum turnkey agreement. The start of LNG production is scheduled for 2028.

The Coral North Project represents the second FLNG development in Mozambique, following the Coral South Project. In that earlier project, JGC Group, Technip Group and Samsung Heavy Industries jointly executed the EPCICworks, achieving first LNG cargo in 2022 and currently producing with outstanding operating performances. Through these successive projects, the three companies have established a strong track record and trusted partnership with Area 4 Partners.

JGC Group has built a leading position in the FLNG sector, having participated in multiple projects worldwide, including FLNG developments for PETRONAS in Malaysia.

In addition to its offshore LNG portfolio, JGC Group is actively engaged in major onshore LNG projects, including the Ruwais LNG project in the United Arab Emirates, as well as Front End Engineering Design (FEED) work for projects in Canada, Mozambique and Indonesia.

Through the delivery of LNG infrastructure with reduced environmental impact, JGC Group remains committed to supporting the global energy transition and advancing its corporate purpose of “Enhancing Planetary Health.”
