The Nigeria Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil) Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri has paid a condolence visit to the family of the late elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark, extending his heartfelt sympathies in expression of the deep pain that accompanies the loss of a beloved father, mentor, and leader.
Disclosing this condolence visit to the family of Elder Statesman in his official X handle, the Hon. Minister reminded the bereaved family that Chief Clark’s eternal sojourn is not just a loss to the family or to PANDEF alone, but to the entire Niger Delta and our great nation.
Sen. Lokpobiri described the later Elder Statesman as true nationalist whose voice consistently echoed the call for progress, development, and unity, especially for the Niger Delta region and, by extension, Nigeria. His wisdom and relentless advocacy for justice and equity will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
While empathizing with the family, the Hon. Minister encouraged them to take solace in the remarkable life he lived, a life filled with integrity, unwavering patriotism, and legacies that will endure for generations.
Late Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, 97, was born on May 25, 1927, in Kiagbodo, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State. He served as the Federal Commissioner for Information during General Yakubu Gowon’s administration and was a senator in the Nigerian Second Republic in 1983. Late Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark died on February 17, 2025.
