….Performs groundbreaking of Nsik’s 10MMSCF/D CNG Mother Station Facility

Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, has commissioned the first modular LPG extraction plant and a 20-megawatt gas-to-power project at Otakikpo field, owned by Green Energy and Lekoil Joint Venture (JV) in Rivers State.

Prior to the commissioning, the JV management took the Honourable Minister on a tour of the facilities, including the power plant, LPG extraction plant, Early Production Facility (EPF), and land terminal – the first to be built by an independent company in Nigeria.

Ekpo commended the JV management for efficiently deploying resources and utilizing local resources in executing the projects. He also praised the royal fathers and youths of the host communities for their peaceful coexistence with the operating companies, which enabled the project’s completion.

According to Ekpo, these projects will create opportunities for a robust gas economy, provide electricity for the communities, create jobs for youths, and offer other benefits aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the country.

The Honourable Minister was joined by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry for Petroleum Resources, Ambassador Nicholas Agbo Ella, and received by the JV management, comprising Prof Anthony Adegbulugbe, Chairman of Green Energy International, and Mr. Olalekan Akinyanmi, Chief Executive Officer of Lekoil.

Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo has performed the groundbreaking ceremony for Nsik Oil and Gas’s 10MMSCF/D CNG Mother Station Facility in Uqua Isi Edoho, Esit Eket Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, on Thursday, March 20, 2025.

This project is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s initiative to enhance compressed natural gas infrastructure and availability across the country, facilitated through the Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund (MDGIF).
