Nigeria and South Korea to Collaborate on LNG Project

Nigerian Energy Sector has continued to attract International investment Interest as NNPC CEO Met with Daewoo in South Korea. This recent global investment prominence on Nigeria Energy sector is coming days after a milestone meeting in a bid to fast-track the process of achieving the Final Investment Decision (FID) on Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline Project  

The Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd., Mele Kyari, recent visit to Daewoo’s global headquarters in Seoul, South Korea has been seen as another iconic approach to explore numerous possible avenues in harnessing the nation’s abundant natural gas reserves.

The South Korea visit was centered on collaboration with the world renowned engineering giant in enhancing Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas project now that gas has been seen as a veritable source in achieving global net zero emission pursuit.    

The visit also underscored the growing interest from the international community in investing in Nigeria’s energy industry, buoyed by the efforts of the administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to foster a enabling business environment with a focus on the oil and gas sector.

According to information made available on its official X handle, the GCEO met with the Group Chairman, Daewoo E&C, Mr. Wonju Jung, and the CEO & President, Mr. Jungwan Baek. Further details on the meeting are yet to be disclosed at time of this report.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited has  in 26 January, 2023 signed a maintenance services contract with Daewoo Engineering and Construction Nigeria Limited for a “quick-fix repair” of the Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC) Limited and its expected to be completed by the end 2024.
