Nigerian owned Africa largest Refinery, The Dangote oil refinery has announced on January 12, 2024 the resumption of crude oil refining operation of the Plant. According to information as disclosed by the company via its X handle formerly Twitter that the Refinery Plant has begun production of diesel and aviation fuel.

“Dangote Petroleum Refinery has commenced production of diesel and aviation fuel. This is a big day for Nigeria. We are delighted to have reached this significant milestone,” The Company said in a statement posted on social media platform X.

“President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, elatedly thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and encouragement towards the actualisation of this project.”

The $20 billion 650,000 barrel per day (bpd) plant will not fully be at its peak at the resumption of operations but will gradually get to export level as neighboring West African countries are standing by to receive the fuel export from the plant.

.Sequel to crude refining resumption announcement, the refinery said it has received a sixth crude oil cargo on Jan. 8, 2024 which is of one million barrels of Nigeria’s Agbami crude, taking the total volume received since December 2023 to 6 million barrels.

Nigeria’s state-owned NNPC Ltd. is expected to supply four crude cargoes to the refinery from its February programme.  The national oil company acquired a 20 percent minority equity stake in the Dangote Refinery which is expected to fulfill through crude oil allocation.
