…..As NGML Boosts Portfolio with 6MMSCFD CNG, 40MMSCFD LNG JV in Ajaokuta

The two indigenous firms, WAGL Energy Limited and Nexaspring Gas Ltd, have disclosed plans to invest in LPG storage and supply facilities near the NLNG plant in Bonny, Rivers State. This strategic location will enable them to receive gas deliveries directly from NLNG and easily move them into the domestic market via the soon to be completed Bonny-Bodo Road, being constructed by the NLNG.

Owing to this gas investment plan, the Minister of State Petroleum Resources (Gas), Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo has held separate meetings with the management of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Ltd, NNPC Limited, and two indigenous firms, WAGL Energy Limited and Nexaspring Gas Ltd as part of efforts to increase the availability of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in the domestic market.

The meetings were attended by key stakeholders, including the EVP, Gas and New Energy of NNPC Ltd, Mr. Lekan Ogunleye, Managing Director of NLNG, Dr. Philip Mshelbila, his deputy, Olakunle Osobu, Managing Director of WAGL, Mohammed Sani Bello, Managing Director of Nexaspring Gas Ltd, Mr. Bowale Jolaso, among others.

Ekpo urged the management of NNPC Ltd. and NLNG to collaborate with Nigerian firms to ensure the success of their projects, so that  LPG is made more readily available to Nigerians at affordable prices, to further drive President Tinubu’s “From Gas to Prosperity: Renewed Hope Agenda”.

In a similar vein, NNPC Gas Marketing Limited (NGML) has entered into a Joint Venture agreement with Zuid Energies Limited for the development of a 6MMSCFD Capacity Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Plant and a 40MMSCFD LNG facility in Ajaokuta, Kogi State as part of its strategic drive to expand gas marketing and distribution across Nigeria.

The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the Mobility-CNG Stakeholders Workshop recently held in Abuja. The development demonstrates NGML’s commitment to leveraging private sector partnerships to deliver innovative Virtual Pipeline Solutions that enable efficient gas supply to off-grid and underserved areas.

The Workshop, themed “Deepening Industry Alignment for a Sustainable Mobility-CNG Sub-Sector,” brought key players and regulators in the downstream value chain to deepen industry alignment, discuss commercial opportunities, and present solutions related to the Presidential CNG Initiative.
