Nigeria currently experiencing rise in the numbers of offshore rigs operations as Shelf Drilling a shallow water offshore drilling contractor with official base in Nigeria secured a short-term contract for the Adriatic I for operations offshore Nigeria. The company in recent media disclosure said that contract term with undisclosed firm is on period of 90 days and of an estimated contract value of USD 11 million.
According to the Shelf the estimated contract cost is excluding revenues for mobilization and demobilization. The contract is scheduled to start in early May 2023 and the duration of the contract period is not announced. The company did not disclose if the resumption date of the Adriatic I contract is connect with that of Scepter.
Shelf Drilling has recently made a disclosure of the company’s award of a two-year contract for the Shelf Drilling Scepter for drilling operations offshore Nigeria. The drilling contract which is valued for the firm period, including mobilization revenue, is approximately USD 118 million. The contract also includes a one-year option, and the planned start-up of operations is May 2023.
In December 23, 2022, Shelf Drilling, made similar announcement as the company secured a one-year contract for the Trident VIII jack-up rig for operations offshore Nigeria. The rig which completed a short out-of-service project prior is expected another contract commencement in Q2 2023.
