Tenaris marked a major milestone in Nigeria, celebrating 25 years of operations with the inauguration of its upgraded thermal insulation plant in Onne, Rivers State, and the successful completion of the coating campaign for the Bonga North deepwater project, located in waters more than 1,000 meters off the Nigerian coast. The project required advanced technical capabilities and was delivered on an accelerated schedule.

Over the past 25 years, Tenaris has supported some of Nigeria’s most complex energy developments, continuously investing in local capabilities to meet evolving industry demands. To support the Bonga North campaign, the company invested about USD 10 million to fully refurbish its five-layer thermal insulation line in Onne, bringing advanced coating technologies closer to customers and strengthening Nigeria’s industrial capabilities.

“These achievements reflect our long-term commitment to supporting the growth of Nigeria’s energy industry through investment, innovation and the development of local expertise,” said Rosario Osobase, Managing Director of Tenaris in Nigeria. “The successful completion of Bonga North leaves a lasting legacy of knowledge and technical capability that will support future offshore developments while demonstrating the growing maturity of Nigeria’s industrial ecosystem.”

“Nigeria is entering a new phase of growth, and Tenaris is well positioned to support it through the expertise, technologies and local capabilities we have developed over the past 25 years,” said Alessandro D’Angelo, Commercial Vice President, Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe & Caspian Sea. “Reaching this milestone reflects our confidence in Nigeria’s long-term potential. As new opportunities emerge, continuity will be key to strengthening local value creation and helping our customers deliver the country’s most demanding energy projects.”
