Uganda Discovers New Oil Deposits of over 600 million Barrels

UNOC has identified nine potential oil wells in the Butiaba area under the Kasuruban Block, signalling significant new crude oil deposits in Buliisa, Hoima, and Masindi. Preliminary estimates point to approximately 98.3 billion litres (over 600 million barrels) of commercially recoverable crude oil.

This is not a distant dream; these resources sit within the proven Albertine Graben and can be developed using the existing Tilenga and Kingfisher infrastructure already under construction. That means accelerated timelines, reduced costs, and earlier revenues flowing directly to the people of Uganda.

The recent discovery is driven by Ugandan expertise in partnership with the Petroleum Authority of Uganda, UWA, and global specialists. Every step in Kasuruban is guided by transparency, environmental responsibility, and maximum benefit to Ugandans, because that is UNOC’s mandate.
