Amid prevalent shift in global energy mix, United State of America has indicated further investment interest in the development of hydrocarbon exploration and production business in Gabon. This was disclosed during the Minister of Petroleum, Vincent de Paul Massassa, on March 23, 2023,received an American delegation led by Syed Dilawar, special envoy of the United States Economic and Commercial Affairs Office.

“ I am here to see how we can accelerate American investments here in Gabon and how American companies can work with Gabonese companies  ”, indicated Syed Dilawar who was also the special envoy of the American Chamber of Commerce. It should be noted that several American companies are already operating in the Gabonese oil sector. We can cite the company Vaalco Energy and the American oil services company Schlumberger.

In order to give the American delegation possible avenues for investment in Gabon, the Minister of Petroleum presented to his hosts the potential offered by the country in the energy and hydrocarbons sector. “Gabon is in a phase of energy transition. And gas is now a resource that must count and for which, we know that today, a lot of effort must be made in research. Especially research whose potential in deep and very deep offshore requires large investments. And we know that all of the American companies for the most part are the ones carrying out projects of this nature,” explained Vincent de Paul Massassa.

Indeed, Gabon is currently working to succeed in its energy transition, which will consist in further developing its gas resources over the next few years. It is a question of generating new sources of income in a context of declining oil production, accelerating the energy transition and improving the supply of the national territory in butane gas.
