Africa50, a Project and Finance development company focused on helping bridge Africa’s infrastructure funding gap by facilitating project development, mobilizing public and private sector finance, and investing in infrastructure on the African continent, has shown interest in Nigeria’s gas sector.
The company made this disclosure on the sidelines of the 2026 Infra for Africa Forum in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, where a high-powered discussion took place between the top management of Africa50, led by the Chief Executive Officer of Africa50, Alain Ebobissé, and the Nigerian Minister of State for Petroleum (Gas), Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo, to discuss investment opportunities in Nigeria’s gas sector.
Hon. Ekpo expressed his excitement about this wonderful gesture and welcomed Africa50’s interest in investing in Nigeria’s midstream gas sector and other strategic infrastructure projects, highlighting the significant opportunities available in a stable and increasingly investor-friendly environment in Nigeria’s gas sector, which remains central to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic transformation and energy security agenda.
“Under the Decade of Gas Initiative, we have identified strategic projects requiring investment to scale production, expand midstream infrastructure and accelerate the utilisation of our abundant gas resources.
“I assured Africa50 that the Federal Government is committed to supporting credible investors as we work together to strengthen Nigeria’s gas infrastructure, mobilise private capital and advance energy security, industrialisation and economic development across Africa,” He emphasised.
Expressing the rare privilege granted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to represent him at the high-level Presidential Session of the 2026 Infra for Africa Forum in Dar es Salaam, where he spoke on “Powering Africa’s Industrialisation: Africa’s Gas Resources in Action,” Ekpo stated that Africa must move beyond exporting raw resources and begin to deliberate on utilising them to create value at home.
He notably emphasized Nigeria’s unequivocal commitment towards domestication of natural gas utilization through execution of various gas infrastructural projects across the country’s energy corridors ranging from gas to power projects for industrial development and LPG penetration initiative projects, CNG transportation Integration Initiative among otherregional gas pipeline projects.
“For Nigeria, we are placing domestic gas utilisation at the heart of our energy strategy because gas can power industries, strengthen electricity generation, support food security through fertiliser production, expand clean cooking and drive transportation.
“We are also committed to strengthening regional energy security. Through projects such as the West African Gas Pipeline and the recently endorsed Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline, Nigeria is positioning its abundant gas resources to support industrialization and prosperity across Africa. The time has come to move from gas to prosperity — not only for Nigeria, but for the African continent,” He posited.
Africa50 is currently executing about 33 projects across 32 African countries, ranging from energy, ICT, and civil engineering to health, worth over. Africa50 facilitates project development and financing together in one platform, providing support at every stage of the project cycle, through three investment vehicles: Project Development, Project Finance, and Infrastructure Acceleration.
