The Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR) has launched a new round of investment opportunities, offering seven undeveloped fields in the Mediterranean Sea and six exploration areas in the Gulf of Suez and the Western Desert.

This initiative is part of the ministry’s ongoing strategy to boost crude oil and gas production, leveraging the Egypt Upstream Gateway (EUG) platform. Bidding will remain open for two months, closing on May 4, 2025.

This move follows the ministry’s recent success in closing the bidding process for 13 exploration areas and mature fields, which attracted over $700 million in investments. These investments are expected to increase significantly if commercial discoveries are made.

In the Mediterranean, the MoPMR is focusing on enhancing natural gas production by offering seven undeveloped discoveries. These have been grouped into two categories to accelerate production and maximize economic returns. The first group includes the Aten, Meret, and Rahmat fields, while the second comprises the Salamat, Satis, and Salmon fields. These discoveries present substantial opportunities to increase gas production, addressing growing demand.

Additionally, the ministry is offering six promising exploration areas in the Western Desert and the Gulf of Suez. In the Western Desert, these include North East Bir El Nos, South Fayoum, and Wadi Sannur. In the Gulf of Suez, the areas are East Geisum, East Gebel El Zeit, and East Shadwan. These opportunities underscore Egypt’s commitment to expanding its energy sector and attracting new investments in exploration and production
