UNOC has identified nine potential oil wells in the Butiaba area under the Kasuruban Block, signalling significant new crude oil deposits in Buliisa, Hoima and Masindi. Preliminary estimates point to approximately 98.3 billion litres (over 600 million barrels) of commercially recoverable crude oil.
This is not a distant dream, these resources sit within the proven Albertine Graben and can be developed using the existing Tilenga and Kingfisher infrastructure already under construction. That means accelerated timelines, reduced costs, and earlier revenues flowing directly to the people of Uganda.
Beyond the barrels, this discovery delivers:
– Thousands of skilled jobs, especially for the youth of Bunyoro
– Billions of additional shillings for education, healthcare, roads and power
– Stronger national energy security and industrial growth
– Proof that Uganda can lead its own resource development with excellence and integrity.
Proudly driven by Ugandan expertise in partnership with Petroleum Authority of Uganda, UWA, and global specialists, every step in Kasuruban is guided by transparency, environmental responsibility, and maximum benefit to Ugandans, because that is UNOC’s mandate.
The journey from today’s discovery to first oil continues, but one truth is clear:
Uganda’s God-given wealth is being unlocked, responsibly, inclusively, and unapologetically for the prosperity of all her people.
