
As Nigeria strives towards a collective resolve to build a gas-powered economy. The industrial and residential community of the Nigerian Federal Capital Territory is on the verge of receiving the first gas supply from the AKK gas pipeline in early 2026, following the project’s attainment of its final construction stage, as reported by NNPC Limited, which is currently at 94% completion.
According to the NNPC Limited April Monthly Summary Report, upstream pipeline availability is currently at 79 per cent, while AKK (Mainline) has continued in collaboration with stakeholders to progress construction and installation activities geared towards achieving early gas to Abuja in 2026.
Reporting on the current progress of the Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) Gas Pipeline, which has reached 96% complete, the corporation stated that the OB3 River Niger Crossing was completed after relentless efforts by all critical stakeholders, thus bringing Nigeria closer to the realization of its strategic gas infrastructure development ambitions and ensuring its energy security.
NNPC Limited further reported an uptick in Nigerian gas production, with current output reaching 7,730 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d) in April, showing a slight in margin above the 7,731 mmscf/d recorded in March. Nigerian Gas sales, both domestic utilization and export, maintained a positive outlook, recording 5,044 mmscf/d in April, slightly below March’s 5,059 mmscf/d.
On finance, Nigeria’s state-owned oil company, NNPC Limited, reported a rise in crude oil and condensate production to 1.68 million barrels per day in April 2026, alongside N4.97 trillion in revenue and N481 billion profit after tax, according to its latest monthly performance report.
