Nigeria Oil Production Rallies, Records 1.73mmbpd as OB3 Project Hits 97% Completion

The NNPC Limited has recorded all-round progress in its operations, according to the monthly report released for May, with financial reports recording N462bn Profit After Tax in May 2026, representing a continued month-on-month growth across other key production metrics.

The average crude oil and condensate output increased to 1.73 million barrels per day(mmbp/d) from 1.68 mmbp/d reported in the April 2026 operations report, representing a 2.98% increase.

Natural gas production also rose to 7.774 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscf/d) from 7.730 mmscf/d, reflecting a modest 0.57% increase over the previous month.

According to the report, some key gas infrastructure projects, including Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) Gas Pipeline, have progressed to 97% completion, while pre-commissioning and tie-in works have advanced towards full commissioning by the end of Q3 2026.

The corporation also noted in its report under review that construction, installation and pre-commissioning activities on the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline have progressed, supporting the target of early slated gas delivery to Abuja in 2026.

Total revenue for the month stood at ₦4.335 billion, with cumulative statutory payments for the period of January to May 2026 at ₦4,858 billion.
