Total Energies has reiterated its continued upstream investment drive in Nigeria to sustain and unlock value from the ongoing seismic campaign, which will usher in the installation of FSO Adiana, replacing Unity, to support the current production plan.
According to the Managing Director of Total Energies Nigeria, Matthieu Bouyer, the exploration campaign currently underway in OML100, which he described as one of the company’s most mature assets in Nigeria, is a key pillar for future production.
The SW Duchess, a shearwater vessel, is performing the seismic campaign and will assist TotalEnergies in assessing the remaining exploration potential offshore Nigeria. According to Matthieu Bouyer, “The scale of operations — streamers 8 km long — shows the technology, preparation and coordination required for this type of operation”.
“A special mention to Shearwater GeoServices for impeccable safety and execution, and to our partner NNPC Limited for their support and trust in enabling the fast-track mobilisation of this campaign,” He added
At the end of the seismic, TotalEnergies expects to install a new floating storage and offloading (FSO) vessel, Adiana, towards the end of 2027 as part of efforts to sustain oil output by replacing an ageing unit offshore Nigeria.
“Moving into its refurbishment phase, FSO Adiana is scheduled to sail to its anchorage offshore Nigeria and be installed by the end of 2027, he said.
The FSO Adiana vessel, being refurbished in China’s Weihai city sea port, will replace FSO Unity, which has a storage capacity of 2.2 million barrels of crude oil.
Matthieu Bouyer further disclosed that the current exploration activity in OML 100 is to ramp up offshore production for decades and extend a partnership between TotalEnergies and Nigeria’s national oil company NNPC Ltd.
